    About the Book

    Edit

Lee Fairhurst is the son of BriSCA Formula 1 stock car racer Derek Fairhurst. Derek has been racing for over 30 years, but in 2009 handed his car over to his 18 year old son Lee, so that he could make his debut in the sport, and what an impact he made, winning heat and final at his debut meeting and by the end of the month, had won 11 out of 17 races that he started. Just 2 1/2 months into his formula 1 career, Lee was crowned European Champion 2009. The UK Open title followed in 2011 and in 2012 Lee made history by coming from the back row of the grid to win the World Championship Final. Lee was a World Champion at age 21 and in only his 4th year in the sport.

This book charts Lee's stock car career from starting out in Formula 2 for two seasons in 2007 and 2008, and continues through his success in Formula 1's from 2009 to the end of the 2012 season. It includes the highs and lows of his racing career.

The book also includes several pages on father Derek Fairhurst's stock car career, the end of season BSCDA awards night, end of season team updates, Pre 2012 season interview with Lee, Post World Final interview with Lee, Newspaper report on Lee winning the World title, Supercar drawings of Lee's car, team postcard designs, a page on the Stoxnet karting event that Lee dominated preseason, a list of all Lee's Final wins.

The 200 page book contains 489 photographs taken mainly by Chris Clark, but with additional photography provided by some of the other finest stock car photographers who cover the sport week in, week out.
