    About the Book

    Edit

In December of 2021, Angela and her family came down with Covid, a mild case for all of them, thankfully, or so it seemed. But within a week, Angela’s symptoms turned sinister and progressed to almost completely disable her for just over two years. Longing to express herself through her art and reconnect with her friends, Angela began creating a visual Long Covid Journal that continues from December 2021 through October 2023. Each page of Angela’s watercolor sketchbook has an ink sketch and words to describe what was going on through every stage of her experience. She finishes her journal with a note of acceptance and gratitude. As of May 2023, Angela is feeling much better and is able to start venturing out into the world again without fainting or losing her breath. “Nothing quite makes you appreciate life as much as being ill,” she says of her experience with the devastating condition.

Angela Bandurka creates paintings in acrylic that explore the theme of connection. Whether it’s through figurative works, still life pieces, or landscapes, Angela looks for connections to the past, present, and future. Born in B.C., Canada in the mid 1970s to a multi-generational family of artists, she calls her work Impressionistic Representationalism. Paintings that look fairly realistic but maintain a painterly essence. She has been a full time artist and art instructor since 2008, with Southwest Art Magazine calling her one of their Artists to Watch in 2019, and The Best of Acrylic Magazine featured her work on their cover in 2022. She teaches regularly online with Acrylic University, Cole Gallery, and on her website at AngelaBandurka.com.
