About the Author
Joy Kendall, MA, LMFT, is a licensed marriage and family therapist and educator with decades of experience working with individuals, families, and communities. Her work has included special education, psychotherapy, clinical supervision, group therapy, and the development of educational and therapeutic programs.
Joy developed The Healing Community through her work with adults in residential recovery, integrating evidence-informed therapeutic approaches with a Christian understanding of identity, relationship, responsibility, and transformation. The curriculum is designed to support participants in their own growth and to provide structure, guidance, and training for therapists developing their skills in group facilitation. Her approach reflects a conviction that lasting growth occurs through gaining insight and skills and through experiencing healthy relationships and communities where people can practice new ways of understanding themselves and relating to others.
