This is one volume of an ongoing photo project, “Looking for Main Street.” The project now includes over 1,500 photographs which document streets, alleys, buildings, storefronts, and other sites in 100+ American downtowns in 22 states -- when the mill closed, the interstate appeared, and "progress" happened.

Photographer Allan David Spader lives in Parkersburg, West Virginia. During the 10 years he lived in Maine, his display prints were selected 4 times at the annual Maine Photography Show and shown at galleries in Portland. His images seek to say something about people and the places where they live.
