    About the Book

    Edit

Starting point for this short trip captured with a pinhole camera was an old photograph, which I still have in my collection. It is from one of my relatives. I supposed for a long time, it must be done before 1913, because in this year my grandfather migrated from Paraguay to Germany.

Going deeper in details I found something interesting. The old photo on the back cover illustrates the Eifeltum, the Seine and in the backyard: another building. First I thougt this building must be "Sacre Coeur", but I failed. In front of the Eiffelturm there is a bridge. From this point of view, it must be the "Bir Hakeim".

If you check the situation nowadays, which I did in May 2009 together with my wife, you'll be surprised about the difference. Bir Hakeim was reconstructed in 1905. On the front cover you can see this double construction for the metro train and pedestrians. This is my main pillar for the thesis, that the slide from the back cover must be taken before 1902. If so, the building in the backyard must be "Palais du Trocadero", which was erected in 1878.
