The fictional brother and sister duo travel Asia, Europe, and the Middle East. Along the way, they discover that ancient folk tales help them solves the puzzles and mysteries they encounter. In addition, the children learn that God and His Word are alive and active.

In Central Afghanistan. Anna and Elijah find themselves entangled in a mystery that feels much like the Afghan fairy tale of Yusuf and the Dayu. While visiting friends in Western Afghanistan, the children are caught in the middle of a conflict over valuable gems. Like the ancient Persian hero Rustam, will the children be able to rescue those who are walking through the valley of the shadow of darkness?

As they explore historic Turkey, the children find themselves puzzled by local folk tales. When they run into trouble, Anna and Elijah must decide if wisdom or trickery will save the day.

When Anna and Elijah's cousin Rowan joins the story, the children find themselves chasing a pearl thief around modern Dubai as they seek the identity of the legendary Baba Darya: the "father of the sea." The children's adventure draws them into deep waters where they discover what true treasure is.
