    About the Book

    Edit

A collection of amateur photographs that depict everyday life. Primarily focused in Newtown, Sydney, Australia, and the National Art School, Darlinghurst, Sydney, these photographs portray the artists' transitional and developmental progress during an attempt at a Master's Degree in 2019. The images contain hidden references and symbolism that result in the transformation of mundane environments into the divine language, of which is contained beneath all things. In many cases, the images belong in a pairing so that a mental dialogue can be deduced. As in many applications involving the human condition, an artwork's meaning often lies in what you cannot see on the surface.

The book contains images of artwork by John Stanfield, a drawing studio technician at the National Art School, the American sculptor Eva Hesse, and Australian artists Tom Polo, Mira Gojak, Nicholas Folland, Robert Andrew, Rushdi Anwar, Linda Marrinon, Tony Garifalakis, Sandra Selig, Fayen d'Evie, Hannah Brontë, and Kaylene Whiskey.

The artist would like to thank Carolyn Eadie and Gustaw Szelski for their guidance during this project.
