A collection of inspiring quotes and expressive mixed-media sculpture that celebrates the richness of women’s spirits and the strength of their mutual support in coping with breast cancer. This is a companion booklet to the "In Her Shoes" installation at Women and Infants Breast Health Center, Providence RI. The mixed-media pieces in this series were created from women’s shoes that were neither new nor in perfect condition. In fact, the artist - who began this series when she, herself, was in treatment for breast cancer - used only shoes purchased at thrift stores; shoes that had been thoroughly scuffed, shaped and softened by the women who had worn them. The repurposed shoes range from boots to ballet slippers, and the resulting symbolic sculptures invite reflection on universal themes that lend positive energy to all whose lives have been touched by breast cancer.
