    About the book.
This collection of photographs documents the early teaching years of artist Stan Hodson. They capture a short yet important part of his career in Salford Schools during the mid-1960’s and that of his pupils.

    About Stan Hodson
Born and raised in Bolton, Stan honed his artistic talent at the Bolton College of Art and Burnley School of Art before beginning his teaching career in Salford, a period recorded in this book. Starting at Tootal Drive Primary School in 1964 aged just 21, he then taught at St Luke's County Primary School through the first half of 1965, then on to Clarendon Boys' School, his first teaching role in secondary education.

Stan spent much of his spare time outside of school indulging his love of painting, staging many exhibitions at Rivington, Bolton, Burnley, Manchester, Chipping and North Wales from 1969 through to 2005. He remained proud of his time teaching in Salford and of the children he taught during those years.

Stan’s images are reproduced here from the original 35 mm film, edited by his son Andrew Hodson.
