    About the Book

This is a photo journal of an amazing experience of five friends who travelled to Peru. We explored Lima and Cusco where we visited local cathedrals, museums, markets, nearby ruins, and a local Women's Weaving Cooperative. We also enjoyed local restaurants before embarking on an incredible Trek on the Inka (Inca) Trail where we hiked and camped for four days, crossing Dead Woman Pass at 13,820 feet. We ended our hike at the spectacular ruins of Machu Picchu where we saw the Royal Tomb, the Torrean (or Temple of the Sun), the Intihuatana Stone (or Hitching Post of the Sun), and the Main Temple situated on the Sacred Plaza,. After that amazing adventure, we flew into Puerto Maldonado in the Amazon Jungle where we took a boat ride up the river to the Tambopata Lodge. Here, we were treated to sightings of many jungle birds (including the hoatzin, wood stork, toucan, sword-billed hummingbird, and scarlet parrots). We also observed local animals and insects like capybara, cayman, lizards, a tarantula, and more. On our fascinating jungle hike we observed gigantic Ficus, Kapok, and Srangler Fig trees, and trees that "walk" called Walking Palms. We also explored a local farm where we tried some passion and noni fruit
