Richard Marshall is an opera conductor who was general director of the Charlotte Opera when, in 1982, he went to New York City to found the Center for Contemporary Opera which he ran for 25 years. Upon retirement he moved to Whitingham, Vermont and devoted himself to photography, developing gardens and writing books on New York City, Hungary, portraits, gardening and about people living in towns in Massachusetts and Vermont along the southern Vermont border. He is a member of the Brattleboro Center for Photography.
