About the Book
The first four months of retirement in Costa Rica included sitting on my idyllic apartment balcony photographing birds, monkeys, sunsets and other vistas. One of the birds was the Clay-colored Thrush called the Yigüirro in Costa Rica where this unassuming bird is the national bird. I celebrate my move from the apartments to a house with this remembrance of the nature I enjoyed in the beginning of retirement here.

A lover of nature and adventure since childhood in Arkansas, I spent my last three years of employment as a missionary in The Gambia, West Africa before retiring to nature and travel photography in Nashville, TN where I was a volunteer docent at Nashville Zoo, public school reading tutor and volunteer in my church. Nature Photography is now my main focus, In 2014 I decided to move to Costa Rica, my a favorite place to travel. Retirement living costs in the U.S. were such that I could no longer afford to travel and live there, so I moved to where I like to travel! And that's just one reason! :-) I love living in Costa Rica, immersed in nature and a life of "pura vida" in a little developing country that prioritizes ecology and has no army!
