Tony Martin (Dunedin, NZ)

Dunedin, Otago, New Zealand
About

Rev Dr Tony Martin is a New Zealander whose vocation has spanned military chaplaincy, parish ministry, mental health leadership, and emergency management.

His life of service reflects a deep commitment to people in places of vulnerability — from soldiers under fire to communities in crisis.

His military ministry was marked by a rare blend of theological conviction, sacrificial service, and cross-cultural fluency. He did not play at being a chaplain — he lived it, prayed it, and bore its cost. Though he later returned to New Zealand, his years in the British Army shaped not only his faith but the countless lives he accompanied through military operations, uncertainty, and silence. He brings together the mind of a scholar, the heart of a pastor, and the grit of a soldier. His life is one of faithful presence — among troops, in the clinic, at the pulpit, and in the Emergency Coordination Centre. Tony is a minister of the church forged in conflict and tested in faith.
