    About the Book

    Edit

Softcover version - For four years, from Spring until Fall, often several times a day, I would explore my garden on all fours in search of anything that moved, crawled or flew on a macro scale. Spiders ended up being the most photographed subject. My initial idea was to put together a book on them. Faced with the daunting task of selecting among thousands upon thousands of images, I decided to narrow it down to my favorite characters: Jumping Spiders. They are cute, look almost human and expressive with their funny haircuts and large forward-facing eyes - a bit like primates. They are tiny enough that they cannot hurt you, and they are more often than not cooperative and patient photographic subjects. But once again, I could not bring myself to eliminate so many shots I liked, and so I ended up, for this first macrophotographic essay, doing this book on only one species: the Bronze Jumper or Eris militaris. This collection includes several females of the same species photographed in a variety of environments, mostly on flowers in the Summer, in the litter and among colorful leaves in the Fall.

His long-time passion for wide open spaces and a predilection for deserts have led him to travel to every continent - including Antarctica with this latest adventure - and the Arctic.
