    About the Book

    Edit

"The loss of the Halsewell, East Indiaman, on the coast of Dorsetshire affords one of the most lamentable instances of shipwreck on record." The Halsewell sank on 6th January 1786 on her third voyage to Madras, India. Accounts of the wreck were widely circulated at the time and became well known. Bill Wilson came across a handwritten transcription left in his grandfather's possessions and having been in the Swanage Coastguard Cliff Rescue Team he has added a glossary of terms to help modern day readers understand some of the sailing terms.
    38 pages, 3 maps, 8 photographs, 11 illustrations.
