Mother of ten and grandmother to over thirty, Elizabeth Conway Doak had a passion for family, stories and family history. This book presents some of her stories and writings. Several stories recall her early childhood growing up as Bessie in her grandparent’s home in Philadelphia and later in nearby Lansdowne. The Mrs. D stories detail some of her experiences in the early 1940’s while most of her children were young adults. These range from the challenges of grocery shopping under war-time rationing to driving an army tank under the direction of her eldest son. A sample of her writings on her family history provides some context for the other stories.
