    About the Book

What is news? What is the public interest? Do certain types of information possess an inherent urgency to be broadcasted? Who sets this urgency? What does it signify to make a disclosure? What is a secret? What is a leak?

This is a publication examining the function of WikiLeaks’ journalistic activity within con- temporary mass media by zooming in on five leaks for which the reason to publish remains dubious. The documents in these leaks do not reveal any political, historical or ethical significant truth but are rather of sensational character; published to create a scandal while intruding into the privacy of individuals. These are instances of journalism revealing secrets without any public interest justification. Where is the sensitive information in these documents? What could be the motivation to publish them? Why the WikiLeak?
