In 2006 I applied to go on an Earthwatch expedition sponsored by Wesfarmers Ltd. Competing against all the other employees in their insurance division, the selection process was tough. I missed out, and reapplied in 2007. This time I made it. I could hardly believe it. I was selected, and got my first choice of expedition - the Freshwater Turtles of the Kimberley. Camping in the Outback of Australia had been on my 'to do' list for some time...to be able to do it in this way was going to be truly the trip of a lifetime... and it was.
