    About the Book

    Edit

The Last Polio Children consists of photographs of Children with Polio at the Menagesha Hospital in Ethiopia. The author, a polio survivor, visits these last children who contracted polio in Ethiopia and identifies uniquely with them, sharing a common illness. This revelation takes the author back in time to when he was himself a child, and suffering from polio. The photographs taken in 2015 and 2017 are starkly powerful, depicting children in their environment under the stress of a disease which takes its toll on the young. The images are expressive and reveal a tremendous sensitivity on the part of the photographer as they reflect the children's and the author's internal struggle with the disease. 72 pages, 8x10 dimensions. Images are black and white. Author is Gabor Gasztonyi, Forward Ezra Teshome
