Bringing back the Cabarets of the Nothingness!
At the turn of the 20th century, Paris was home to the Cabarets of the ‘Nothingness’ (Heaven and Hell): someone have had the the idea of celebrating death in an offbeat, playful, and irreverent way, mocking death, religion, and the taboos of the time. These places dedicated to death were not only frequented by surrealists, poets, and the “underground” of the time, but by tourists as well who were looking to slum it and discover a different Paris, darker than that of the Eiffel Tower and World’s fairs. I have tasked myself the challenge of bringing this place back to life and recreating or imagining its atmosphere with a contemporary perspective and today references...
