About the Book
Too effervescent to be clearly painting, too openly respectful of chance to be drawings, my watercolours try not to imprison the beauty I see, to avoid a questionable fixity of aesthetics. This gives the works a certain anxious restlessness that captivates the viewer, through which they nevertheless possess the quality of an ‘other world’.
Over the years, the watercolours have created a skilful ambiguity of form and content, avoiding the point at which art becomes perfectionist and complacent. Each element contains a flaw, something imperfect that is crucial to its personality and prevents the artwork from appearing elevated or sublime.
