About the Creator
Jacqueline McAdam has worked in the human services field for as long as she can remember as a counsellor, university professor, researcher, trainer, facilitator, and evaluator. She has experience working with children and adults across various cultures and contexts. Her work with children and youth began in the early 1980s, followed by her academic training at the University of Victoria, where she obtained a B.A. and M.A. in Child and Youth Care. For the first ten years of her career, Jacqueline worked as a counsellor with at-risk youth and families in crisis. In the early 1990s, she began working in Africa, specifically in Kenya, Rwanda, and Ethiopia, as an independent consultant for the United Nations and various non-governmental organizations. Her doctoral research focused on the factors that enhance coping and adaptation for children from war zones. A topic close to her heart following her time in Rwanda following the 1994 genocide. Jacqueline teaches and has a private practice.
