About the Book
A creative project written and translated by Saraí Chavarría
"Libreto de Poesias de un Corazon Latido: Notebook of Poems from a Beating Heart," is Sarai's first self-published poetry book written in both English and Spanish. In this collection of "ethno-graphic poetry", Chavarria writes about every day life from a, "de-colonized, natively awakened sense of self". These poems were written during pivotal moments in her life, where the author's spiritual awakening and gratitude work helped inspire these works. In doing so, dedicating a part of the book to the people who make communities run. The local business owners, the teachers, lawyers, organizers, the service workers and the laborers; this book is an ode to workers everywhere. Through the art of poetry, Chavarría aims to spread love, hope, and awareness of how various communities coexist every day. By peeling back the layers that often divide people, such as socioeconomic status or cultural heritage, this book explores what connects everyone together. What inspires people to feel, think, and connect to the divine."
"The author writes in the rhythm of spoken-word poetry while painting a picture at the same time. This collection is dedicated to her children, Naliah and Leandro, her ancestors, and the communities that have taught her how to feel."
