About the Book
This is a true story of a wolf attack that occurred in the mid 1700's upon my ancestors. Passed down through generations of family lore, research has shown this was a real event that occurred during a time of New England history when wolves were relentless predators that decimated livestock and posed a constant threat to human settlements.
They were viewed not just as a nuisance, but as a danger that demanded elimination. This fear and hostility fueled widespread campaigns of eradication, driving wolf populations to the brink of extinction across much of their native range.
While my research was intended to be family genealogy, I could not ignore the fascinating history from more than 260 years ago about wolf attacks and the ways in which they were hunted and almost exterminated. The information about wolves in this book is not voluminous--this is a family history book.
