About the Book
Although the primary focus of this volume is to showcase images with motion that are captured by creatively altering the shutter speed while keeping the camera stationary, the authors also provide the reader with information on other motion techniques in the initial sections of the book. These early sections discuss the various techniques that can be applied to creatively use motion in an artistic way to tell stories and produce compelling images. These provide photographers with well-rounded knowledge about the various methods to carry out their vision.
Images are presented in the final 3 chapters: Rhythms of Motion and Color - Water, Rhythms of Motion and Color - Water Reflections, and Rhythms of Motion and Color - Skies/Clouds. The largest section of the book is devoted to sharing images with extended exposures (slow shutter speeds) and fast shutter speeds, using a variety of locations, subjects, and scenes to creatively capture motion involving water. The next chapter provides examples of water reflection photography. Movement of water often plays a role in the creation of water reflection images. Water reflection photographs can range from mirror images, when water is quite still, to the very abstract, when water is in motion. The final chapter showcases images where ever-changing skies display dramatic color and motion. Photos include a description of the technique used as well as camera information. If any adjustments were made in post-processing to enhance motion-related effects or to reinterpret the original image in a creative artist way, a description will be provided with the photo.
