    About the Book

    Edit

Marking the fifth anniversary of San Francisco’s initial COVID-19 lockdown on March 16, 2020, this book presents selections from my 6 Feet Apart series—photographs that capture the visual language of pandemic-era public space. Its release coincides with my exhibition at Birdhouse Gallery, which ran from February 1 to March 16, 2025, featuring installations that reimagined these images to engage with the shared societal shift that has occurred since this collective experience. Together, the book and exhibition explore the lingering traces of a transformed world, now fading into memory yet still shaping our present.

    CONTRIBUTORS
Renny Pritikin was chief curator of The Contemporary Jewish Museum in San Francisco. He will read a short curatorial response written for 5 Years, 6 Feet Apart called “The Aesthetics of Peril and Panic”.

Christopher Lee is a medical epidemiologist focused on global epidemic and pandemic preparedness, detection, and response. He will read a short essay written for 5 Years, 6 Feet Apart, a personal reflection of his COVID experience titled “Lines, Loss, and the Gravity of Time“

Santa Cruz in 1993 in Art History with a focus on contemporary art theory and studio photography. He has exhibited across the USA as well as internationally in Tokyo, Kyoto, Paris and Poland.
