About the Creator
We are artists, architects, and urban designers with a holistic view of design that comes from varied experience and interdisciplinary thinking. A quality that has become the essence of our creative process, influencing our understanding of the city building processes and allowing us to balance the functional aspects of urban design with those that pertain to their livability. Including the contributions of art in the public realm and communal engagement, as a tool to build trust, capacity, and enhance social cohesion and bonding to respond effectively to urban challenges. SUMO project was founded on the idea that “Specialization is for insects.” For that reason instead of concentrating in a particular subject or skill, the studio seeks to see the big picture. Looking for the myriad of connections, causes and effects, between human behavior, arts, and culture and how they are associated to specific places and everyday life. Seeking to establish connections between people and places.
