About the Book
This collection of essays chronicles the evolution of a beloved tradition that began with The Madonna Fragment, a mysterious painting of unknown provenance that invited visitors to consider the stories and significance we generate to give magic and meaning to our lives. From there, each installation unfolded a new narrative, incorporating found objects, handmade devotions, historical artifacts, and finely executed works to create moments of quiet
contemplation during the year’s darkest days.
Whether reflecting on the resilience of the human spirit during the isolation of a pandemic or pondering the power of community in times of upheaval, these essays invite readers to look beyond the surface, to find meaning in the smallest acts and the simplest objects.
A celebration of light, memory, and connection, Fifteen Winters is both a record of a unique artistic journey and an invitation to pause, reflect, and embrace the shared warmth of the human spirit.
