About the Book
The decline of the British High Street during the last few years is documented in this book. The introduction of out of town shopping centres, the impact of the Covid 19 pandemic, the rise of online shopping and the decline and collapse of many major major chains have all contributed to a decline in footfall. As a result many independent businesses that give each High Street its own unique character have become unsustainable.
Many town centres have almost as many vacant shops as open ones with a consequent loss of local community and culture.
These images taken over a number of years set out to document this decline.
