    About the Book

    Edit

Aquí y Allá: Vol. Dos is dedicated to artists whose roots predate European Colonization of the Americas. The interviews in this book are from 2021; 400 years after the arrival of Europeans to Plymouth Rock in what is now the USA and 500 years after the Mexica Empire fell to Spanish invaders in the place now known as Mexico City.

Volume two includes interviews with: Lukas Avendaño, Karlos Baca, Zara Monrroy, Raven Chacon, Filogonio Naxín, Melanie Yazzie, Manuel Estrella Chi, Emily Johnson, Luna Marán, and Gregg Deal.

Aquí y Allá, Conversations with Creators from México and the USA, a two volume Spanish and English bilingual set containing interviews with 20 internationally recognized artists. This project’s roots are in the early days of the COVID Pandemic as a podcast series and has now taken publication form thanks to funding from the Mexican Government’s ‘Fomento a Proyectos y Coinversiones Culturales’ grant. Through these publications, PROArtes Mexico strives to promote and foster exemplary contemporary art/artists in/from and across Mexico and the United States.
