Vickie Choitz grew up on a farm in Ellsworth, Kansas, and in the town of Salina. She currently lives in Somerville, MA. She returned to Kansas in October 2021 and June 2022, for a “photo safari” of her home state with a mission to capture images that challenge the common stereotype that Kansas is just “flyover country.” With these images, she hopes to share Kansas’ beauty, culture, history, creativity, humanity, and resilience. She hopes they surprise and delight you, and bring you joy. This version 2 of the Kansas Photo Safari includes more trains and schoolhouses, for a friend who especially appreciates these images.
