About the Book
Sun marks time and my prints.
Shooting on large format cameras (from 4x5 up to 16x20 inches), I use vintage silver gelatin photographic papers on my film holders, exposing them for long time, from seconds to many hours.
The light intensified by lens at maximum aperture burns the emulsion; dissolves what is not relevant and leaves room only for the essence of the image.
The indelible colored traces and cuts leaved by sun on paper remind us how powerful as well as unrivaled the nature is.
I come back to the same places at different seasons of the year to create a continuous dialogue between sun, light and time.
Once developed the enlarging paper gives a positive image.
This project allows me to photograph the landscape in somehow unexpected way; to get in touch with legendary enlarging papers; to create one of a kind prints and to be warmed by sun and a sense of bliss.
