About the Book
"The Dog of the Day" is a celebration of "man's best friend," with photographs which capture the exuberance and spirit of our dogs, playing off leash, meeting new friends, and enjoying life to its fullest.
At Quiet Waters DogPark and Beach in Annapolis, Maryland: "A magician wandered along the beach, but no one needed him." Douglas Adams, "Life, the Universe and Everything."
Included are quotations which capture an insight into a philosophical understanding of our relationship with our dogs, and an occasional history of the individual breed, for example, "From Brothels to Royals: The Complicated Past of The French Bulldog," which also includes pirates, Parisian 19th prostitutes, artists, and leading figures.
It is said that Flemish weavers brought Corgis with them as they traveled to reside in Wales. Ancient lore states that two children were running through a forest and stumbled upon the funeral of a fairy. The mourning fairies gave the two children two small corgi puppies and the children took them home, thus giving the breed popularity.
"I saw the whole thing! A dog and a penguin helped him escape!" Edgar Cantero, "Meddling kids"
"Every dog must have his day." Jonathan Swift, "Gulliver's Travels."
